We hope this event will become an annual tradition! \nThis exciting evening supports our outstanding scholarship program\, initiated in 2013. To date\, we have raised over $85\,000 and awarded 94 scholarships totalling $59\,000. While our association’s golf tournaments have traditionally been our primary funding source\, we are excited to introduce the Fun Money Casino as a new way to support our scholarship program. DESCRIPTION:Our original speaker\, Brookes Merrit\, is once again unable to attend our members’ meeting in Calgary\, as rescheduled for June 5. \n“I’m not able to come to Calgary for our rescheduled lunch with the local group there. I apologize. I’m afraid it’s not lining up with some anticipated meetings I’d had for Calgary\, and with current client demands.” \nHowever\, I have been able to arrange for Bill Black\, the President and CEO\, and Frano Cava\, the Director of Public Affairs and External Relations\, both from the Calgary Construction Association\, to speak to our membership instead.  Both are great speakers and have a wealth of information to share with our membership regarding tariffs and their impact on the construction industry\, as well as yesterday’s announcement from the First Ministers’ meeting in Saskatoon regarding labour mobility. https://www.pm.gc.ca/en/news/statements/2025/06/02/first-ministers-statement-building-trong-canadian-economy-and-advancing-major-projects \nI witnessed this presentation two weeks ago at the Calgary Construction Association’s Big Picture Series: What Now? Implications of the Federal Election on Canada’s Construction Industry. \nDuring the presentation\, they will discuss the changes underway and the trends they anticipate. Please bring plenty of questions for them to address. \nWith the change in speakers\, we also need to adjust the event date to June 12. Unfortunately\, the CCA golf tournament is on June 5\, so neither of them can speak to us that day.
