SMACNA-AB SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2023

The Sheet Metal Contractors Association of Alberta ("SMACNA-AB") scholarships were created to help our full-member company employees achieve their apprenticeship as sheet metal workers.

Eight (8) $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded to employees of member companies registered in Alberta's Sheet Metal Worker apprenticeship program, beginning with the April 2022 intake. The scholarship will apply to all years of apprenticeship study at any of Alberta's accredited post-secondary institutions.

Eight (8) One Thousand ($1,000.00) scholarships will be awarded to applicants/apprentices based on the following criteria:

  1. Scholarships are available for all periods of training (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years)
  2. Applicants/apprentices must currently (at the time of submission and award) be employed by a SMACNA-AB member company in good standing
  3. A member company must submit the application AND letter of recommendation on the applicants/apprentices' behalf
  4. Applicant/apprentice must have attended sheet metal apprenticeship training AND passed all requirements set out in the Alberta Apprenticeship Program
  5. Applicant/apprentice must have enrolled in the apprenticeship training program in any intakes between April 2022 and February 2023.
  6. All applications must be sent to SMACNA-AB by May 26, 2023 deadline either by Canada Post or by email to Wilma Agnew - Re: Scholarship 2023
  7. The application must be complete; unfinished applications will be removed from the selection process
  8. IMPORTANT: Applicants/apprentices must include a copy of their marks/transcript from the Alberta Apprenticeship Education program available to them online. If not included, it will be removed from the application process.

SELECTION PROCESS

A committee made up of SMACNA-AB members will select recipients. Recipients will be chosen based on employer recommendations and the successful completion of apprenticeship training.
